So, are you guys legit?

Yep, OK we get it. We're new and this is one we get asked a lot, at least for now. We completely understand of course as we're a brand new company with almost no online profile but yes, we're legit!
While Impact Travel is a new venture the founders have been in the industry for over 40 years combined and know it back to front. They have worked almost every aspect of adventure travel and operators we use are all deeply established in the industry with a decade or more of running tours behind them.
Impact Travel was launched in Feb '24 as a way for them to promote experiences and products they have worked alongside for years.

Why are many of your trips and tours sold in Australian Dollars?

The short answer is because the majority of our suppliers and experience providers operate in Australia Dollars. Our reservations software is also based in Australia so we decided to cut out the middle men (the banks and foreign exchange vultures) and stick with the good old Aussie Peso.
The reality is if you book any overseas accom, tours or experiences in the UK with GBP or in Europe with the Euro the exchange is already built into the price with a little extra to cover currency fluctuations. By us operating in Australia Dollars you will receive your own banks up to the minute exchange rates with no need for that buffer.

Who are Hero Travel?
​
Hero is our reservations, bookings and payments system. It's an amazing bit of software that connects us directly to all our suppliers to give up to date live availability and pricing on almost every product we sell.

We also use Hero as it offers outstanding financial protection to our customers in the event of supplier failure. If COVID taught us anything it was that greater protection is needed in the event of the unforeseen. All money is held in trust until such time as the experience/tour/accommodation or other product has been delivered to the customer. In other words if your tour company goes under or cancels a trip before you start or even during your trip then your money is still safely tucked away in that trust account.

Can you make a custom itinerary for me?

Um, yes please! We'd love to! We have access to around 17,000 different products across the world which is obviously far too many to fit on this site so give us a shout with your ideas and we'll put together your dream trip!

How far in advance should I confirm my open dated tour?
​
This will depend on the exact product and time of year but as a general rule we recommend confirming dates at least 2 weeks before you intend to travel. During high season you may want to book even further in advance.

Why don't you sell flights?
​
Well, mainly because we don't want to. Flights are pretty boring, expensive and it's far too competitive a market. We do, however have a partnership with some up and coming flight Guru's in Germany called Flyla! We've partnered with them as they offer exclusive student/youth only discounts and also compensate for 100% of the carbon emissions for every flight! Check the flights tab above for more info.

Can we book everything in before we go? Even with Flexi Passes?
​
Sure! No worries at all. We've kept as many of our products open dated as we can. This gives our customer maximum flexibility in their travels and the chance to make things up as they go. If you're on a bit of a tighter timeframe or simply want to get everything confirmed before you go then you can! Your booking vouchers will contain contact details for each and every product supplier. Just contact them directly and confirm the dates you need!

Is Travel Insurance required?
Yes. It's hardly the most exciting thing you'll book for your travels but insurance is a requirement for many of our tours and experiences. Find something that covers cancellation (customer initiated) just in case you have to cancel before you go. Also a policy that covers the destinations you'll visit and the activities you want to do when you're there. Skydiving, scuba, trekking, horse riding and other activities require something over and above your standard insurance policy so make sure you're covered for everything you want to do.
